ABOUT SIR SYED MEMORIAL SCHOOL

Head of School's Welcome,

When you first come to SSMS, you will notice that the excitement is palpable: you can feel the energy in the corridors, sense the vibrancy of adventure in the halls, and grasp the wonder of discovery in the classrooms as students and faculty engage in authentic critical thinking. Our task at ssms is to “ignite the unique spark of genius” within each student. Our teachers can change how a student thinks about himself or herself and, more importantly, how, as an individual, he or she relates to the world. Our goal is to build leaders who have the courage to take intellectual risks and the skills to communicate and work effectively with others.

We are committed to establishing the school as a centre of excellence within our community and seek to challenge all of our young people to make the most of the learning and extra-curricular opportunities available to them and ensure students have a stimulating, rewarding, and enjoyable time at school.

Sincerely,

Our Philosophy
Our History

Sir Syed Memorial School was founded by the Minority Upliftment Society. It is named after the educator Syed Ahmed Khan. Kamaluddin Khan and his brother Jalal Uddin Khan opened the school in 1992, initially as the Sir Syed Educational Centre, later renamed to the Sir Syed Memorial School. The initial intake was 60 students, but this rapidly grew to over 1400 students. For some years the school offered boarding facilities for up to 100 students, but this was discontinued as pupil numbers increase in days scholars.
